Big News… We’re Moving!

I know I’ve definitely been a little M.I.A. lately. Between turning 30 ( I know , I don’t look a day over 21, just kidding) and then immediately the whole family having this mysterious cough and then FluA, then Christmas Travels and fun, its been a lot to keep up with! But in the midst of all of this chaos, we have decided to move, beside my parents. Lol. Its a long story, but the short version is that the house beside my parent’s house came up for sale and my dad needed some of the land from it, so they bought it! They were going to rent it or turn around right away and sell it but we’ve been talking for awhile about finding something bigger and this kinda fell in our laps. So, with that being said, we now have amazing landlords, or shall I say, my parents now have the greatest renters!

After we get this packing dealt with, it’ll be so much better. I saw a meme the other day that said, if you’re over 30 hire renters, your friends can no longer move your shit for just pizza and beer. And that is so damn true! Although, for the past 3 of Robert/I’s moves I have made him spend the money and hire people to move him and I. In my mind its just easier.

Okay, now this is where the fun part starts. Design and Decorating! From the moment that we found out that we were moving, I started a whole Canva template and Pinterest Board with each room and Inspo. I am kind of testing myself to try to find the best products and best designs for the cheapest prices. The First element I started with was lighting for each room. Obviously all the bedrooms will have fans with light units ( I mean who sleeps without a fan, psychopaths) but for the common areas I wanted to pick out lights that are versatile yet chic.

Like the vibe at our current house, I want things to be light and airy. I like to call my design style as Southern Traditional Grand Millennial with a touch of Coastal Maximalism, say that 5 times fast. I have only gotten about 4 of my idea boards completely finished, and I wanted to show those off and get your opinions on them before we get started. And I’m attaching a picture of the floor plan so you can see the layout and know what I'm talking about.

It’s three levels starting from the left and then up.

Side Note: I did already buy all the lighting for the whole house, because we had to get the handyman scheduled. I consider myself a pretty handy but electrical is out of my repartee.

Rooms So Far

All links to everything on my inspo boards can be found on my LTK!

Dining Room Inspo:

This is really the first room that you see when you walk in the front door so I wanted it to stop people in their tracks. At first when I was designing, I was super set on doing Wallpaper (y'all know I love some wallpaper), but the more pictures I pinned the more I started to love the LimeWash look. The room itself has an amazing chair rail that is a glossy white and it also has a little alcove in the corner. I was obsessed with all of the light fixtures that I found for this room, but I ended up going with the Blue Glass Bubble one. Because our Dining chairs are already blue I wanted to keep with that color scheme. I haven’t made up my mind about the rug yet, I love the antelope rug but I am scared it will clash with the antelope fabric on my chairs.

Powder Room Inspo:

I feel like the grand millennial vibe is a lot of blues and greens, which I love. But every once in a while I like to just throw a super feminine room in there, just to spice things up. I bought the silver and floral inspired light fixture and I plan on changing out the pedestal sink to a vanity because there is absolutely no storage in that little bathroom. I am going to do wallpaper in the powder room but I don’t know if I want to do flamingos or pink and white stripes or wild flowers. Let me know what you think I should do! I don’t want to go as wild as I did in our house now with the oysters and lemons but I do want it to be a showstopper.

Living Room Inspo:

This one I don’t have a ton of “products” for because I’m keeping my white couches. I do eventually want to build my own builtins. I’m planning on buying cabinets either from Lowes or Ikea. LMK if you have a preference. But a little detail that I'm obsessed is the Green trim in the one Pinterest Inspo Pic.  With For the Lighting in this room I got the Flush mounted Cane Fandelier. In my mind Cane is neutral, I know that’s only in my mind but let me live in my delusional bubble. Now the Rug situation is where I am having trouble, should I put the antelope rug in the Living Room to Kinda tie the dining and living rooms together. Im also obsessed the the far right rug on the board, it looks just plain beige but it actually is a diamond pattern. Let me know what I should do!

Kitchen and Breakfast Nook Inspo:

I did two separate boards for the Kitchen and Breakfast Area but literally they are in the same room, so obviously I have to compare them. A little details about the house, the kitchen has speckled black and white granite and white subway tile backsplash. The Cabinets are this light grey, which im not in love with but I’ll eventually (probably) paint those. First off, with the lights I chose the Chrome pendant light, its the pendant version of the bathroom fixture. Because I chose a chrome for the pendant lights, I felt like the chrome lantern light fixture matched best. I don’t know if its because I’m a millennial or if its because my mom pounded into my head that you can’t mix black and brown, in my head I can’t mix gold and silver either. And because the kitchen cabinets are grey I felt like chrome looks better than gold or brushed Nickel. I do plan on changing out all the hardware on the cabinets to chrome vs the brushed nickel that they have on them now.

Questions and Answers:

  • How to Decorate a Home on a Budget?

I am finding a ton of amazing products on Amazon, Wayfair and Facebook Marketplace.

  • What’s New in Home Decorating Trends?

I think neutrals are always in but I am hoping to see Moody vibes, like darker spaces and textures.

  • What is your Decor Style?

I consider my decor style as Grand Millennial, a touch of Maximalism and very Southern; I am a Southern Gal!

This is all I've imagined up in the past two weeks, I know it’s not a lot but it’s a lot for me. You know how I hate making decisions! These are big steps. Also as I stated above of trying to budget and not go crazy, probably 90% of the items on my boards are from Amazon, I know shocking. I know I’m probably a bit late to the game but Amazon has some great finds, but you definitely have to scroll A LOT to find it.

Please let me know via here, Insta, Facebook, or TT what you love or don’t love about my Inspo Boards!

Love you, Mean it!
