Spruce Up my Fall Home Decor

How I revamped my Home Decor for the Fall Season.

When it comes to Home Decor, some people say “less is more”, some people say “the More the Better”, Who knows what’s right at this point!

I believe in doing whatever makes you happy. But when it comes to the Home Decor in my house, I love having Fall Decor everywhere. I think I like it more this year because for the past 6 months, Fin has been obsessed (and I mean OBSESSED) with Halloween. If I have to watch Steve and Maggie’s Halloween episode one more time, I’m cancelling the Holiday, Just kidding.

I am a neutral Decor girlie, if you haven’t noticed. But Fall decor is my favorite. In this post I’m going to go from room to room (or really area to area because: open concept floor plan) and show you what I have revamped for the fall season and where I got it all.

In the Dining Room:

To Our Dining Room, well it’s not a room. More like an alcove. Because of our open floor plan I didn’t want to go all out for our tablescape and dining table. I feel like it would be a little overwhelming. Plus, we eat at our dining table every night and Fin plays at the table during the day. So, I needed Decor that could be easily picked up and moved from the Table to the bar or vice versa. I picked up a couple of different tablecloths this spring because I didn’t know what vibe I was going for. So in that order I ordered the Neutral and White Tablecloth and then layered it with this denim tablecloth on top. When I think about Fall vibes, Denim is one of them. I know that sound weird but I just think of jeans. Maybe it’s because fall means it’s time to put the shorts away or maybe it’s because its the dreaded start of “are my jeans going to fit me this year” through process. Anyway back to the Decor! I made a darker version of the Faux Terracotta Pumpkins for the top of the table. Just to preface, I don’t love how the Color of the wannabe cement pumpkins, and I might end up repainting them the Terracotta color. But for now, they will just stay this Brownish/purple color.

At first I laid out the pumpkins on the tablecloth, along with Orange/Brown and Blue Glass pumpkins I got from the Target Dollar Section. I also picked up Acrylic and Blue candlestick holders. But I have decided that Pillar Candles are just not my thing. They never are standing up right, ones always crooked and my self diagnosed OCD just can’t handle it.

In the end I pulled out a wooden Elevated tray out of my Pantry and placed the Pumpkins on it.

I have to say, I’m not in love with this finished product. I’m living with it and trying to be on the look out for things to add. If you think of anything, Please help a girl out!

Not Just for Stockings:

Oh this is the Money Shot. Is that too vulgar? I think we are all obsessed with these Faux Terracotta Pumpkins. These turned out way better than I ever could have imagined, and Ive had great feedback from y’all about them. I loved them alone on the Mantle, I thought it looked really minimalist and chic. But after I Revamped my Dining Table Decor, I decided to move the glass pumpkins from target over to the Mantle and I am obsessed. I think adding the blue glass tied in everything so well, just because I have so much blue and gold in my built ins. I haven’t unboxed them yet, but I did snag two Gold Deer antler Candlestick holders from Poshmark. They are the same brand and are identical to my silver ones, but are gold. I don’t know if I will have the gold ones up year round or switch them out according to the decor around it.

At the Door:

I didn’t want to do too much to the Entryway table just because I love how it looks already and I feel like it has a cozy fall vibe already. But I do have two candle holders on it, one medium size and one large one. And of course I haven’t decided if I want actual candles in them yet. So since they were empty, I picked up some sherpa small pumpkins from Hobby Lobby this week. The Brown, Carmel and White Sherpa is so cozy and cute for fall. Its just a touch!

Lets Get Cozy:

I am so excited about the next additions! I don’t know if it is just me, but every time I go to HomeGoods, I always find the Cutest pillows but I ONLY FIND ONE! And is that not the worst? I hate getting mentally attached to a pillow and then not being able to find a second one. Well, that didn’t happen this time! I saw this gorgeous not mint but not sage green velvet pillow. It’s more like a Garden Green, but because it’s velvet, the lighting makes it darker in places and lighter in others. I was super hesitant about grabbing green pillows because of all the blue in my builtins and my already navy and grey pillows that I had. But I think they look pretty good. I also grabbed a charcoal lumbar pillow and a dark green pillow with a distressed white moose on the front. That description sounds crazy, but it’s giving Cabin Vibes. I wanted to grab some of the plaid pillows that they had but I didn’t like the color schemes of any of them. But I feel like these green and brown pillows (not the moose) can definitely be out year round.

Items I Bought to Revamp:

  • Neutral and Denim Table Runners - I bought mine from Target. The Neutral one is still in stock but the Denim One is OOS. I found some close comparisons!

  • Green 24X24 Pillows - I grabbed mine from HomeGoods

  • Lumbar Pillow - Another Great HomeGoods Find

  • Terracotta Pumpkins - I have made these now in two different versions, Terracotta and Cement, Which one is your favorite?

  • Glass Pumpkins - I bought mine from Target’s Bullseye's Corner

  • Wooden Tray - I think I got mine at Carolina Pottery, but Who knows at this point!

  • Moose Pillow - Of course, You can’t find anything online that you find at HomeGoods. But here are some cute options!

FAQ’s:

When Should you Start Decorating for Fall?

I like to start around the Middle of August, and have almost everything put together and up by the middle of September. But, it’s all up to you, if you want to start at the beginning of August, Do it!

How can I make my house cozy in the Fall?

I like to coziest it up by adding more textures, and rich colors. They don’t necessarily have to be “warm toned” colors, I have more cool tones in my house, so I like to cozy things up with greens and charcoals.

Where do you find the best Home Decor Options?

I like to get inspiration from places like Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel and Kirklands. But I like to find either ways to DIY my decor or go to Hobby Lobby and HomeGoods. I’ve heard amazing things about the store At Home, but I haven’t really checked it out yet.

Ok fine, Revamp may have been a stretch, I more like sprinkled new fall decor around the house. But I love all the new additions, let me know your thoughts on the decor and if you think I should add anything!

Love you , Mean it.
